Community

Canterbury Scientific is part of an expansive and proud scientific community.  We are committed toopening career opportunities for New Zealand’s top graduates, and to broadening the strength of medical science across the country, and in Christchurch in particular.

Canterbury Scientific supported the 6th International Symposium on the Chemistry and Biology of Serpins which took place in the USA in October 2011. The Serpins are a group of Serine Protease inhibitors that include α-1-antitrypsin, anti-thrombin III and angiotensinogen. Both Prof Robin Carrell and Dr Aiwu Zhou were guest presenters, and Canterbury Scientific extended an educational grant of US$2000.

Canterbury Scientific also supported Thomas Fellowes of Christ’s College, Christchurch, to represent New Zealand along with 3 other New Zealand students at the 43rd International Chemistry Olympiad at Ankara, Turkey, in July 2011. We were delighted that they were awarded a bronze medal for their performance.
