HbA2 Tri-level Controls
HbA2 Trilevel Controls for Detection of β-Thalassemia Minor Trait
The normal adult blood level of HbA2 ranges from about 1.4% – 3.2%. However in cases of β-thalassemia, where there is a deficit in production of β – chains, the levels of HbA2 can be elevated above 3.5%. Hence the measurement of an elevated HbA2 blood level has become the single most important diagnostic test to identify carriers of the β-thalassemia trait.
The Trilevel HbA2 levels are:
- Level 1: 2.0 – 3.2
- Level 2: 3.5 – 4.0
- Level 3: 5.5 – 7.5
The total Hb concentration of the lyophilised control is 90 – 110g/L. Review the full Certificate of Analysis for the ExtendSure Trilevel A2 Lot 3012.
The extendSURE control kitset comprises a set of trilevel lyophilised controls that covers the patho-physiological range. They have an unopened shelf life of 3 years stored at 2°C – 8°C with open vial stability of 4 weeks. They are suitable for the main methods used to quantify HbA2 including Cellulose Acetate Electrophoresis with elution of the separated bands, Anion-exchange Micro Column Chromatography, Automated High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Capillary Electrophoresis.
